When I'm out there and not staying with a friend, I always choose Ruby's Guesthouse. It's owned by Ruby's, but is on the bayside, and I bet you could get it for 30bz a night. I'd suggest hanging out at Fido's, and getting to know the locals. And casually running your story by them. You might be able to couchsurf for a while. I'm a big supporter of couchsurfing.com since the couchsurf tribe has nobody in it. You might try to search it... nevermind, I just did, and nobody out there is registered. Talk to bartender Chris at Fido's. Tell him Marcus knows you, and you need a place, and if he has any ideas. San Pedrito's is hostle style, and you can get it for under $20bz a night if you do a week or more.
