Any News on Hurricane Damage?

Hey Everyone! I know right now is MAY NOT be Quite the time* to go "back home" or get down to BZ. I'm trying to locate any info about what's up and what's not. I'm extremely concerned for my beloved friends and theirs, esp. in the Cayo district. ANY NEWS???? (Please!) Right now I'm trying to find "ham radio" operators who may have reported anything and am planning on contacting any Progressive Mennonites who may be into said mode of communication. (Spanish Lookout is a likely Source for anything outgoing.)

Of course there is zippo in the news or from the Embassy, the model bunker of all bunkers with generators, etc., in Belmopan ( gee, do you think it could be because we don't buy oil from them like Mexico???, just OJ and not much else...??? snark, snark...)

If anyone knows anything about what's going on, please post!

I've managed to round up with my sangha circle about 400k worth of medical supplies, food and water with transportation. We can't even find out if the ^&*&%$! airport is open; over water freight isn't available yet for shipping. Air, the original plan, is preferable.

Any factual info would be most appreciated!

Worried but trying to be hopeful,

    i just received a report from friends who decided to stay on ambergris caye during the storm. my friend's husband, a boat captain, decided to stay and while it was really scary for about three hours, there isn't much damage on the island. most people's boats and property are fine. many docks are jacked, a few palapas didn't make it through but nothing really serious happened. the water rose about 10 feet which means that front street got flooded. the eye of the storm passed about 40-50 miles out at sea. flights are now flying normally to and from the island.

    The Mopan river has gone...DOWN...since the hurricane, that's how little rain we got. Wild! We spent soooo much time getting ready for it too.

      Deep relief... I heard from my neighbors and they had minimal problems as apparently did I... and that means none from what they described. The Mopan certainly wasn't up over the low bride was it? I mean hell would be over the Hawksworth...

      Glad to hear it was so o-tay. Luck and ??? else?

      Thanks everyone. I can go back to my Belekin dreams now, tho a Gallo wouldn't be bad (um acquired how is another issue...; )
