I'm going to be spending a month next year working in Belize near Monkey Bay. What is that area like?

went to monkey river yesterday... saw howlers and iguanas and lots of birds and got bit to shit by bugs despite greasy anti-bug crap...
all in all i loved it! monkeys in the wild... staring at us as we stared at them... one of our group got pissed on! -

But, really, Placencia is kinda off the grid. You're much better off telling your hotel that you want to go to Monkey River, or asking around the local boat and dive shops.
