Thank GOOOOD....the only part that really scares me is when someone will have to drag my ass back on the plane to return to the US...anyway, my sister-in-law will have just graduated from nursing school in Belize and Steven (my husband) and I are going down for a celebratory visit--and maybe to pay off some of our land taxes if we can...i feel almost like I'm doing "time" in the US, as my husband and I wait until we can return to Belize permanently....we are just trying to "save" dinero but what's "enough?!"
ahh...i'm mostly just excited, i miss everyone and everything about belize...from the birds to my little nephew to my mother-in-law's rice n'beans....is the grass really greener?

Re: Back 2 Belize in June!
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 8:32 PMI was in Bullet Tree Falls, and then moved to Santiago Juan Colonia on Bullet Tree road, and TODAY, I moved even closer on Bullet Tree road. I'm just after Tillets on the left now. It's the perfect location. Myself and 3 other friends found a place with a couple acres, and there are 4 serarate places there. Tons of room for Frisbee! Too perfect! Our happy commune, hahaha!!! Has quite a few orange trees, and tons of other edible goodies growing there. I'm a 5 or so minute walk from downtown. I don't think I'll move any closer; this really is the perfect position. Is your family still in Santa Elena?
Have a safe trip down,

Re: Back 2 Belize in June!
Wed, February 28, 2007 - 9:25 PMthat is a great spot ;) As for my familia, they are actually the very first place you see upon entering san ignacio, over the wooden bridge--ever noticed the "mana kai" camping sign? they own all that land and that's where my mother-in-law and everyone live ...they also own the bar/hotel across the street from that DVD store behind Coconutz....it used to be the most booming place while my husband was growing up, but now is all run down due to your typical family drama that comes with $$$, old age, and having a large family...lol...so yah, the familia has always been right in the heart of san ignacio through the floods and all... -

Re: Back 2 Belize in June!
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 10:36 AMActually, we leave for belize next friday morning, May 25th! We stay until June 11th. Apparently my mother-in-law built an addition onto her house for us, so we will stay right across from the park next to the soccer field....by the camping sign right after the wooden bridge coming into san ignacio...so right in town...can't wait! -

Re: Back 2 Belize in June!
Tue, July 17, 2007 - 10:32 AMHow easy is it to buy land and build in Belize for outsiders (americans). I was there in March and I absolutely fell in love with it. Are there restrictions etc.
Thanks,

Wed, August 8, 2007 - 1:21 PMJoanne:
We have the same rules here; you can own your land. Just don't get bamboozled by those out to scam you - the majority of the people I've met here that have bought land have gotten screwed - no joke. Be sure to make sure it's not lease land, or you'll have the title, yet it won't belong to you. The only real estate agent I know of that is recommended by the us embassy is Macarena Rose here in San Ignacio at rainforest realty. I'd check the embassy listings to see if any others are mentioned, and also...rainforestrealty.com.
Good luck,
